This is a narrative of our senior pastor Rev. Victor D’Monte.
The first Adonai Church service was held 30 years ago on the night of December 31st 1986, in a rented hall. We were joined by 5 families at this service. Subsequent church services were held at the home of the Bhagyanathan family who graciously allowed us the use of their home for all our church activities.
This story began in 1980, with God touching and transforming a life that did not even believe in Him.
The sudden realisation of a magnificent God who loved me and died for me was too powerful to push aside and carry on with life as usual. I found great comfort in God and from then on, the only thing that I ever wanted to do was to serve Him. I had finally found the reason for living. I wanted God to be a reality to all those who did not know Him. I firmly believe that God is not only to be understood but He is to be experienced as well.
In 1982, I held on to this scripture in 1Co 2:9-10 that said, ‘However, as it is written: “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him”– (10) but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.’
It is the fulfilment of this promise that gave birth to Adonai Ministries in 1986. This was something that surpassed the imagination of many people, including my own. Going down the memory lane, I look back over the last 30 years in amazement to see how wonderful God is and how true His promise has been. Truly, no mind has ever conceived what God has in store for those who love Him.
